PESHAWAR: Ahead of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) planned public gathering in Bannu on Sunday (tomorrow), the district administration citing security threats has imposed Section 144 for a month, banning all kinds of public gatherings and vehicles with tainted glasses within the jurisdiction of the district, according to a notification.
According to the notification, a number of threat alerts were being received regarding possibility of terrorist activities in and around Bannu. It stated that with the possibility of targeting public gathering and government installations as communicated by the FATA Secretariat as well as Home and Tribal Affairs Department, there is a general consensus amongst the district administration and the law enforcement agencies that it is imperative to take measures to prevent any terrorist activity and loss of human lives.
The ban will be placed on use of tainted glasses on motor vehicles, plying vehicles on public roads without registration documents, storage, transportation and sale of fire crackers and all kinds of explosive materials other than those licensed by the deputy commissioner, public gatherings without security clearance and security arrangements by the district police and an NOC from the district administration and aerial firing and display of weapons in public areas.
