KARACHI: The National Trade Union Foundation (NTUF) has called for naming the new airport in Islamabad after great social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi.
According to NTUF spokesperson Chaudhary Muhammad Hussain, the foundation had written a letter to the authorities concerned in that regard. He said the NTUF had arranged a number of programmes and planned to hold more all over the country to pay tribute to founder of the Edhi Foundation – which was also being attended by his son Faisal Edhi.
He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi always worked for the betterment of the neglected sections of the society. Serving the needy and neglected people was the best way to pay homage to Abdul Sattar Edhi, he added.
Hussain said the provision of free healthcare and education facilities to everyone without any discrimination was one of the dreams of Abdul Sattar Edhi. The establishment of centres for free medical and education would be an excellent way to pay tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi, he added.
